October 2024 – New lab preprint on the the use of deep learning for assessing atherosclerotic plaques in carotid ultrasound. By assessing 180,000 ultrasound images from 20,000 individuals in the UK Biobank, we developed a model for accurate automatic plaque detection. The model predictions improved risk assessment for cardiovascular disease and provided novel insights into the genetics of atherosclerosis. The work represents Murad Omarov’s PhD research. Congratulations Murad!

Role of CXCL10 as a causal mediator in Atherosclerosis.
February 2024 – Integrating genetic information from >520,000 individuals with data from plasma proteomics, the team of Marios Georgakis identified a proteomic signature of IL-6
